As part of York's River Festival for 2008, Helen Sant (Gothic Molly) performed watery tales with storyteller Adrian Spendlow and folk musicians Suzie Fox and Jack Firminger.
There were stories of mermaids, selkie, legends of the sea and ghosts - all accompanied by the haunting ballads of Suzie and Jack.
Helen has rewritten a couple of well known fairy tales with her own take on them - the Wild Swans and the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Adrian took us on a journey where sea traders, vikings and gypsies all lend their presence to the river.
This spell binding event took place on a boat moored outside the famous Kings Arms, Ousebridge - the Syntan barge on thursday 17th July, check back here for information on the 2009 river festival events, or look here forthcoming events
